February Webinar- Feline Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy– Approaches to understanding disease mechanisms

Our speaker will be Dr. David Connolly, BSc, BVetMed. Ph.D., CertVC, CertSAM, DECVIM (cardiology), MRCVS, Professor Veterinary Cardiology at the Royal Veterinary College, University of London.

The presentation will cover:

-a brief overview of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), covering clinical aspects of the disease

-approaches being used at the Royal Veterinary College, London, to understand the complex disease mechanisms

-a brief overview of studies into the genetic architecture of feline HCM and some protein modelling work.

-development of a cellular model system using induced pluripotent stem cells and gene editing technology, to enable a greater and more detailed understanding of the fundamental processes driving HCM.
