2024 EveryCat Symposium at the CFA Annual Meeting

EveryCat Health Foundation is excited to announce that registration is open for the 2024 Feline Health Symposium at the Cat Fanciers Association Annual Meeting.

The symposium will be held on June 27th, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the Hyatt Regency Hotel & Conference Center in Coralville, Iowa.

The topic for this year’s symposium is Feline Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy and the scheduled speakers are Joshua Stern, DVM, PhD, DACVIM (Cardiology) and EveryCat Board member Kara M. Burns, MS, MEd, LVT, CVT, VTS (Nutrition).

 

Dr. Stern will present “Feline Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy – Hope on the Horizon.” He will review the current state of knowledge surrounding hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, including standard diagnostic strategies and when and how this disease is identified in cats. His presentation will focus on clinical advancements and results of recent clinical trials that provide new hope in the care of cats with this devastating disease.

 

Ms. Burns will present “Feline Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy and the Role of Nutrition.” Her presentation will take an in-depth look at the role of nutrition as part of effective multimodal management of HCM, examining the nutrients which aid in improving the quality of life for cats with HCM. She will discuss specific nutrients that may help manage hypertension, decrease fluid retention, maintain heart muscle function, and help slow the progression of concurrent disease processes.
