The American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) and EveryCat Health Foundation Scholarship

Since 2016, EveryCat Health Foundation (EveryCat) and the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) have partnered annually to provide two scholarships for 3rd or 4th year veterinary students enrolled in an accredited veterinary college or school in the United States or Canada. The two $2,500 awards are based upon academic achievement, financial need, leadership, and dedication to and excellence in the study of feline medicine, health and welfare. One $2,500 scholarship is awarded to a veterinary student with a feline practice interest and the second $2,500 scholarship to a veterinary student with a clinical scientific research interest.

The recipients of the 2021 EveryCat/AAFP Scholarships are Melanie Bizzarro, The Ohio State University, Clinical Practice and Christine Haake, University of California-Davis, Clinical Research Scientist. Congratulations to these two outstanding individuals!

Applications for the EveryCat Health Foundation/American Association of Feline Practitioners Annual Scholarship are available each year from January to March, and recipients are announced in April.

In addition to a short application form, interested students are required to answer two essay questions, explaining his/her specific interest and background in feline health and welfare, and to describe plans for future participation in feline medicine. All applications are reviewed, selected, and approved by the AAFP and EveryCat.
The American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) is a professional organization representing feline practitioners who are passionate about the care of cats. The AAFP is dedicated to advancing the field of feline medicine and surgery by setting the standards of feline care through the publication of practice guidelines, position statements, and by providing continuing education.

Through publications, education, and thriving relationships with other organizations, the AAFP engages the veterinary community and its members by facilitating the exchange of scientific data and ideas. The AAFP is a “purrfect” fit as an affiliate organization to Winn as demonstrated by our joint scholarship.

Annually EveryCat partners with the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) in order to provide educational sessions at their Annual Conference.
