Hillsborough, NJ, December 19, 2011: Winn Feline Foundation has presented its Media Appreciation Award to prolific pet book editor Beth Adelman. Since 2005, the Winn Feline Foundation Media Award has recognized journalists and editors who publicly support the mission of the Winn Feline Foundation to advance feline health studies and to communicate facts about feline health.
Adelman is a cat behavior consultant, and spent five years as the author of “The Cat Lady” column for the Sunday New York Post. She also speaks regularly at seminars throughout the country and is the author of “Every Cat’s Survival Guide to Living With a Neurotic Owner.”
Adelman has appeared many times as a volunteer at Winn Feline Foundation events and has answered questions from the public for the Foundation. Ms. Adelman has also supported Winn Feline Foundation by providing editorial and writing services from time to time as a volunteer. In her own writing, she continues to champion the furthering of cat health research, and also serves as one of the best interpreters of the results of Winn- funded studies to an eager cat-owning public. She also volunteers her services to animal control in New York City.
“Beth is an extraordinary editor who is incredibly supportive of her professional colleagues and a mentor to others in the profession. She has always been on the side of disseminating information about cat health and behavior – sorting out fact from fiction,” stated Winn Board Member and past award recipient, Steve Dale.
Past recipients of the Winn Feline Foundation Media Award have included Steve Dale, Pam Johnson-Bennett, Amy Shojai, Kim Thornton and Kari Winters.
The Winn Feline Foundation is a non-profit organization established in 1968 that supports studies to improve cat health. Since 1968, the Winn Feline Foundation has funded over $3 million in health research for cats at more than 30 partner institutions world-wide. This funding is made possible through the support of dedicated donors and partners. Research supported by the Winn Feline Foundation helps veterinarians to improve treatment of common feline health problems and prevent many diseases.
